B.Sc Fresher Resume Example & Format

B.Sc graduates in India move into many kinds of entry roles: QC or QA chemist trainee and lab analyst in pharma, chemical and food companies, microbiology lab assistant, production trainee, clinical research, pharmacovigilance and medical coding associate, research or project assistant, and data or analytics roles for those with mathematics, statistics or computer science. The resume needs to make clear which of these directions you are applying for.

For lab and pharma roles, recruiters check your subject combination, practical lab skills such as titration, spectroscopy and chromatography exposure, awareness of GLP, GMP and documentation practices, and any industrial training or project work. For analytics roles, they check Excel, SQL and statistics. In both cases, graduation marks, Class XII marks and a clear, honest description of what you did in the lab matter more than a long list of instruments.

The sample below is for a B.Sc Chemistry graduate targeting quality control lab and analyst trainee roles, with pharma industrial training and a data-heavy final-year project.

Positions of responsibility

  • Lab volunteer, chemistry department (2024–26): helped juniors with practical setups and safety rules

What makes this resume work

  • The headline names the target role and core techniques, so a QC recruiter immediately sees the fit.
  • Industrial training bullets separate what the candidate did from what she observed, which builds trust with lab managers.
  • GLP, GMP and documentation practices are visible, because pharma QC roles care about compliance as much as technique.
  • The final-year project shows careful sampling, measurement and data analysis, which also supports analyst roles.
  • Subject combination and marks are clear for eligibility checks, including the PCM stream in Class XII.
  • The resume fits one page and avoids listing every instrument from the syllabus.

B.Sc Fresher resume mistakes to avoid

  • Listing HPLC, GC, FTIR and NMR as skills when you have only seen them in a demonstration. Write "exposure" honestly.
  • Not saying which direction you want. A lab role, a clinical research role and an analytics role need different resumes.
  • Leaving out GLP, GMP and documentation. Pharma QC managers look for them even in freshers.
  • Describing practicals as "performed experiments" without naming the techniques or tests you carried out.
  • Adding a photo, date of birth, religion and a declaration. They take space and are not needed.

Frequently asked questions

What should a B.Sc fresher write in the career objective?

Write a short summary instead of a generic objective. Mention your B.Sc subject and year, the role you want and two or three skills that prove you are ready, such as titration, UV-Vis and GLP for a QC role, or Excel and SQL for an analyst role. For example: a B.Sc Chemistry graduate with pharma QC training, looking for a QC chemist trainee role.

Which jobs can a B.Sc fresher apply for?

It depends on your subjects. Chemistry and life science graduates often apply for QC or QA trainee, lab analyst, microbiology lab and production trainee roles, as well as clinical research, pharmacovigilance and medical coding. Mathematics, statistics and computer science graduates often apply for data analyst, MIS and software trainee roles. Pick a direction and tailor the resume to it.

Is CGPA needed on a B.Sc fresher resume?

Yes. Pharma companies, research labs and campus drives often have minimum marks for graduation and Class XII, and some ask specifically for science stream details. Write your CGPA or percentage, your subject combination, and Class X and XII marks with board and year. If your marks are modest, strengthen the resume with industrial training, projects and certifications.

Should a B.Sc fresher resume be 1 page or 2?

One page. Education, industrial training or internships, a project, skills and a few achievements fit when written briefly. If you have a published paper or multiple research projects for a research role, a second page can be justified, but for industry roles keep it to one. Remove personal details, hobbies and the declaration first.

How do I show lab skills on a B.Sc resume without industry experience?

Name the techniques you have performed yourself, such as acid-base and complexometric titration, UV-Vis measurements or TLC, and mention where you used them: practicals, a project or a research assistant role. Separate hands-on work from instruments you only observed. Add documentation and safety practices, because lab managers value careful, compliant work as much as technique.
